Sunburst Down Rail 6'6"
This stunning, custom board is as beautiful as they come and rides smooth and fast in all size waves.
The sun rays on the bottom deck are made of reclaimed redwood and Douglas fir recovered from a home remodel in Capitola, CA. The sun is made of redwood burl driftwood from Waddell Beach north of Santa Cruz, CA. The "water" under the sunburst is of mahogany offcuts from a local cabinet shop.
The top deck is made of redwood from the same home in Capitola with beautiful copper tacks used to fill old nail holes. The deck stringer is made of reclaimed redwood and Doug fir, and the leash cup is of sustainably grown Honduras mahogany from Santa Cruz Guitar Company guitar neck offcuts.
The tail block is made of the same mahogany and features an inlay of guitar purfling, as well. The fin is made of reclaimed redwood with spruce stripes from Santa Cruz Guitar Company offcuts. Abalone inlays at the tail add a touch of extra beauty.
The rails are made of cork which is more resistant to dings, and there are two sheets of 4 ounce fiberglass on top and one on bottom. The epoxy is Entropy Super Sap 100 bio-resin which is up to 40% tree sap and is very strong and light. As with all Ventana Surfboards, the interior is glassed and sealed, as well.
This board is hollow, lightweight and will ride as great as it looks. If you choose to display it, given the uniqueness of each side, it's like two art pieces in one.
